Do you want to take photographs or make a film at the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord? Here we’ve put together a list of the FAQs (status April 2017):
1. I’m a private individual: do I need a permit?
In principle you don’t need a permit to take private photos and make non-commercials film at the Landschaftspark. This includes, for example, stag and hen nights, family pictures, wedding photos, model photography (TfP), Cosplay photo shooting (please have a look at our guidance notes under point 15), photography meetings, photography trips, school and academic project work etc. This excludes, however, photography or filming involving vehicles, large animals and productions requiring technical installations in the parklands. In such cases we are happy to issue a permit, for which there is a charge, once the date has been agreed.The photos taken and films made can subsequently be used for private use in all media without restriction.
2. I’m a professional photographer/film maker: do I need a permit?
A permit is always required for commercial projects. Agencies, TV companies, professional photographers, companies, commercial photography courses and commercial YouTube films require a permit in all cases. This also applies to all projects intending to publish the material created in the parklands for advertising purposes, e.g. in advertising campaigns, flyers, calendars, posters, postcards, etc. We are happy to issue a permit, for which there is a charge, once the date has been agreed. The photos taken and films made can subsequently be used without restriction in all media. 3. Do I have to pay for a Photography & Filming permit?
For commercial projects in particular there is a charge for a Photography & Filming permit. In certain cases we cannot provide a free photography or filming permit for private projects either. This relates, for example, to photos or films using vehicles in the traffic-calmed parklands.
4. As the leader of a photography workshop/photography course do I need a permit?
A commercial photography workshop in the parklands of the Landschaftspark must be registered in all cases; this means for courses where a fee is charged for participation. This also applies to photography courses run by various adult education centres. 5. Can I drive a vehicle in the parklands?
The parklands are subject to traffic-calming measures, meaning that vehicles (private cars, motor bikes etc.) always require special permission. 6. Are nude pictures allowed in the Landscape Park?
Nude photography is not allowed because the Landschaftspark is a venue which attracts a large number of visitors. Taking pornographic pictures in the parklands is forbidden and will be reported to the police.
7. May I use a drone or any other form of unmanned aircraft system to film or take photographs in the Landscape Park?
For those who fly a drone as a hobby, all forms of unmanned aircraft system (UAS) are prohibited at the Landschaftspark for safety and liability reasons. We apologise for any inconvenience.
8. May I take Holi Powder photographs?
For private projects, photography using Holi powder is prohibited in the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord for reasons of liability. We apologise for any inconvenience.
9. May I do light painting in the Landscape Park?
Light painting with artificial light is no problem in the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord. Please use only artificial light sources.
10. May I also film or take photographs in the events halls with a Photography & Filming permit?
A Photography & Filming Permit applies first and foremost to the parklands and the public facilities located in the parklands. This means that you do not automatically gain access to our event halls. 11. Which areas in the Landschaftspark is my permit valid for?
A Photography & Filming Permit applies first and foremost to the parklands and the public facilities located in the parklands. Commercial filming and photography, especially in the Visitors’ Centre, climbing garden, high ropes course, diving gasometer and youth hostel must also be with the prior agreement of the respective operator.
12. Once granted, how long is a permit valid for?
A permit is issued for a date agreed by Duisburg Kontor Hallenmanagement GmbH and charged at a daily rate. On expiry the permit is no longer valid and a new application must be made for a further project.
13. How long does it take for a permit to be processed?
The Landschaftspark team always does its utmost to process your application by return. However, please allow up to five working days for processing.
14. Can the Park Security ask to see my permit?
Yes, the security service checks permits and keep a close eye on goings-on in the parklands. So, as you enter the park, please report to the gate at the main entrance with your permit. The gate is manned 24 hours a day.
15. What else should I be aware of?
Please be aware that replica weapons, objects resembling weapons and paintball guns are all forbidden in the parklands. Fires and fireworks, dry ice and show flitter are forbidden as well.
