Gasometer

In this shape the West Gas Cleaning Plant was created during the period of modernization of the blast furnace plant in the 1950`s. Like her „sister“ the East Gas Cleaning Plant, near Blast Furnace 1, it was responsible for the purifying of the blast furnace gas. In the building itself there are still four disintegrators, originally manufactured by the Theisen company from Essen. They were important for the final wet cleaning of the gas.
