The frieze created by the husband and wife artists Bernd and Hilla Becher has adorned the Power Plant’s external wall since the end of the International Building Exhibition Emscher Park (IBA) in 1999. Printed on HGV tarpaulins, the permanent installation shows 10 gasholders, 51 water towers, ten 10 factory halls, 27 winding towers and 24 blast furnaces. Although the works of Bernd and Hilla Becher mainly show photographs of industrial sites, blast furnaces, winding towers and other industrial facilities, the 122 motifs on the Power Plant are originals.
The exhibition is open throughout the year and with no time limitations.
