Diving
The diving gasometer in the Landscape Park Duisburg Nord is the largest indoor diving basin in Europe. Divers will find an underwater landscape which in form and size has no equal.
This control room was inaugerated in the 1960`s when the plant was integrated in the gas network of the Thyssen plants. Here was the work place of the gas foreman. He controlled the plant and distributed the gas. Measuring displays also showed him the amount of blast-furnace blast, steam and compressed air. Besides this the central personal call system was housed in the energy control room. That`s why the control room also functioned as an inofficial information centre.Today the building acts as a meeting point for the volonteers in the Landscape Park. Without them the successful transformation from a blast furnace plant to the Landscape Park would have failed. Besides restoring and conserving different plants and machines they compiled a collection of important exhibits and archival documents referring to the history of the blast furnace plant.
